Maison + Objet: A Celebration of Craft and Creativity

Twice a year, the design world gathers in Paris for Maison + Objet, a trade show where artisans from across the globe present their visions through carefully honed techniques and fresh perspectives. Walking through its vast halls, we encountered a wealth of creativity with each booth offering a glimpse into the dedication and artistry behind every piece.

The Artisans We Found

We arrived with a plan, eager to meet the creators whose work we had admired from afar. Yet, Maison + Objet is always full of surprises, and some of the most meaningful encounters came from the unexpected. Here are a few of the artisans who left a lasting impression:

Porcelain with Poetry

In a quiet corner of the fair, we met a young ceramicist, Audrey Schaditzki, whose work immediately drew us in. Using traditional materials, she applies delicate, modern glazes that give her pieces a sense of movement and lightness. We selected a few of her pieces which are available for purchase here.

Glass as a Canvas

At Atelier Ilaké, Clair Lange presented her exquisite glassware, featuring silk-screened imagery of leaves and branches. Her collection of plates, bowls, and tabletop pieces capture a quiet reverence for nature. The delicate balance between transparency and frosted texture makes each piece feel as if it belongs both indoors and out.

Jewelry Inspired by the Natural World

Some creations speak not only through their form but through the path that led to their making. A jewelry designer we met left her corporate career to pursue her love of craftsmanship. Her intricate gold and silver pieces take inspiration from organic shapes, each reflecting a deep connection to the natural world. The precision and detail in her work make every piece a small masterpiece.

The Whimsy of Gardeco Objects

We couldn’t wait to visit Gardeco. For the past two decades, Gardeco has been curating exceptional artisan-made pieces from around the world. Their collection of sculptural glass, ceramics, and playful home décor invites a sense of discovery. Each object carries its own personality, demonstrating the joyful side of design and craftsmanship.

The Timelessness of Alabaster

Alabaster possesses a rare quality, diffusing light in a way that softens and enhances its surroundings. We were delighted to connect with an Italian manufacturer who will craft alabaster pieces from our own designs. The material’s cool, smooth surface and historical significance make it a perfect medium for timeless, sculptural home accents.

A Glimpse into En Attendant Les Barbares

For those drawn to the distinctive and rare, En Attendants Les Barbares offered a collection of furniture, lighting, and decorative objects that really stand apart. This curated selection is refined yet unconventional, each piece embodying a narrative through form and artistry. Their work left us inspired and eager to see how these pieces could integrate into thoughtfully designed spaces.

Bringing These Stories Home

Maison + Objet is more than a trade fair, it is a meeting place for creativity, tradition, and innovation. As we left, we took with us not only beautifully crafted objects but the stories, techniques, and passion of the artisans who created them. Their work will soon be available in our collection, ready to find its place in homes that value one-of-a-kind decor.

Stay tuned as we introduce these exceptional pieces we discovered, each infused with the skill and vision of the makers behind them.
