About us

The Wren is a home decor brand that encapsulates and celebrates the spirit of slow craftsmanship, taking the time to appreciate and invest in well-crafted products. Our focus has always been on curating unique, handmade items that are not just beautiful to look at, but also carry the stories of their creators—artisans from around the world.

Each piece we showcase is a testament to their skill, passion, and culture. Our commitment goes beyond selling products. We are devoted to preserving traditions that may otherwise be lost, amplifying the voices of our artisans who may otherwise be unheard, and inspiring a community that values and understands the importance of investing in quality, preserving heritage, and supporting a sustainable future.

We believe in creating connections through our products, providing a glimpse into different cultures, and fostering a deeper appreciation for the art of handmade goods.

We offer a curated collection of unique, handmade home decor - whether ceramic tableware, custom woven pillows, or Turkish rugs – that empowers artisans worldwide and invites customers to be part of a story, tradition, and community that values quality, heritage, and sustainability.

Meet the founder

Founder & CEO

Lori Bate

Lori Bate founded The Wren as an expression of her great love for art, artifacts, and travel. She travels across the globe, sourcing one-of-a-kind goods for The Wren’s clientele. Professionally trained as an architect and fashion designer, Lori has a keen eye for the spectacular. As the former chairman of the board of the non-profit organization Yo Art!, she hopes to share the world of visual arts with the next generation.

With bright conviction and curiosity for cultural experiences, Lori hopes to be a source of illumination, inspiration, and authority in creative communities—showing up in her unique collections and in our customers’ homes. She draws on her grandmother’s legacy of traveling the world and bringing back gifts from distant lands that tell the tales of how people live in other places. “I couldn’t wait to grow up and travel to experience those same things as my grandmother did,” Lori says.

Today, she brings new treasures home for The Wren’s clients, keeping a few to cherish in her own home stating, “I’m bringing back the best each culture has to offer.”
